Festival Season is HERE
Are you ready?
Its that time of year again – Festival Season
Summer music festivals have for a long time been a breeding ground for eccentric fashion trends, which become the nations obsessions.
From the tie-dye fads from Glasto, right through to the present day obsession with wildfox cutoff denims, glitter roots, face jewels and OTT flowery crown and glory headbands! These quirky looks are the youth culture’s stamp on the festival phenomenon. And here’s the latest trend coming your way – taking festival fashion one step further:
glitter for your derrière.
Yep. Glitter butt. It’s a thing, and you can expect to see it all over Instagram in the next few months….. Deal with it.
Cosmo has reported that the trend was inspired by the feeling of sitting on the beach, standing up, and finding your backside covered in sand. But instead of sand, now it’s glitter. YAY – you can never really have enough glitter, right?!
Of course, applying glitter to your own bum is a little tricky, so if you fancy trying the trend it’s probably best to leave it to a professional. Or you can hire one of your friends and get them to rub hair gel (used as glue) on your derriere, and then ask them to paint on the glitter.
A totally normal friendship ritual, I’m sure they’ll agree.
Make sure you wear shorts that are short enough to display your glittery behind to the world – look at our fun ragged priest ones and be warned that you will probably never, ever remove all traces of glitter from the area between your cheeks. LOL 🙂
Enjoy your new life as a glitter-bummed person.
Leave sparkly traces on ever toilet seat you ever grace.
This is who you are now.
Will you be trying out this fad?
Girls we give you MINGA LONDON – your welcome!
Minga London’s motto …. “Life is too short to wear boring clothes“
Where do we sign up?
Well we are pleased to introduce this quirky British label to our store Spoiled Brat – where we totally agree life is WAY too short to wear boring clothes – so much so that NONE of our clothes are BORING!
So who are MINGA Clothing – well they are a London-based fashion brand which creates new wave fashion which is both edgy and weird. We asked the designers of the brand to describe their brand in one word and they have said :
“LOVE, STYLE, INSPIRATION!“
Oh, wait, that’s three words…but who cares?!
One thing the designers are very clear about is that they draw inspiration from absolutely everything! And we mean EVERYTHING – from hipsters to punks, from fashion bloggers to girls next door, from goths to emos, from the secret runways in Soho to the dull businesswoman who turns into a fashion icon during her lunchtime!
We have followed this brand for some time now, immediately drawn to their bright colours and quirky 90s inspired aesthetic. So you can imagine we JUMPED at the chance to be able to stock the brand. We think it fits into our website JUST perfectly – sitting well alongside our brands like skinnydip, tatty devine and wildfox.
So who are they? Well its owned by a boyfriend & girlfriend creative duo – which all started when they decided to move to London without having the faintest idea of what their future would hold. Once they arrived in London, they started looking for any sort of job which would allow them to pay for their shabby little room and ended up working at a vegan restaurant. They were always struggling to pay our bills and that gig was always supposed to be a temporary thing anyway, so they started looking for alternatives.
They have both always been into fashion, running blogs and selling stuff online as well as arts and photography, so they decided to take the best of both worlds by giving the street markets a try! They bought a couple of t-shirts, drew up some cool prints, then dyed the whole thing in their bathtub their home and off they went to Camden Lock Market with our 10-20 items – they didn’t even have a clothes rack or a store banner, but at the end of the day they had sold them all.
Soon enough, they were building up a community of people who followed us to every market they went to, but they didn’t have enough time to go to markets every day, so they took some phone pictures of the products and uploaded them onto eBay. They all sold in a few minutes…… they then left their jobs the next day and started dedicating every single moment to dreaming, creating, planning and producing.
So there you have it! The story of Minga London is one of hard work, passion and dedication. They know they still have a long way to go, but they can tell you this much: it’s going to be a heck of a ride!
