Our WILDFOX Love Affair!
Once upon a time in 2007, we fell in love with a WILDFOX
We call it Fate
Way back in 2007, when Spoiled Brat was 2 years old, we were surfing the internet and stumbled across some quirky sweaters by a little known brand called – WHITEHORSE COUTURE. Instantly it was love & so our 9 year love affair consumed.
Since then, Whitehorse, has become the cult worldwide phenomenon brand Wildfox which is lusted after by the a-list of celebrities and bloggers alike.
For those of you who dont know this brand (first of all, where have you been?!) … but really this is a vintage-inspired women’s fashion brand based in LA LA Land. It was co-created by two childhood BFF’s, who were inspired by their mutual love for vintage t-shirts and their friendship.
Today, the brand continues with this ethos, under the Creative Direction of founding partner Kimberley Gordon.
We have yet to meet anyone who doesnt like this quirky brand – to be honest, we really don’t understand how people cannot like Wildfox?! There is really nothing not to like about them – their lookbooks rock, we spend hours lusting over them. They are super inspiring, super fun and girly and literally made for us. They talk to us – they read our dreams!
Our reasons for LOVING Wildfox :
Their t-shirts always relate to our life and are funny with guarantees to make you happy 🙂
Yeah ….. this is awkward
You can wear them to literally ANY event – even a wedding (and we have!)
Wildfox has a t-shirt for that. They have a crazy imagination. Whether you’re getting married, hungover, or love camping etc, they have something that you can instantly relate to. A top that’ll cheer you up every time you wear it! Worth it.
If you’re a sucker for nostalgia (like us!) then Wildfox reads your mind – they are psychic honestly!! The whole line is based off intangible things: friendship, good times, and good memories. We live for so many of their sayings.
Quality – Their fabrics are softer than anything you’ll ever touch.
Have you ever felt their beach jumpers? Just WOW!
Yes, we agree that their product is on the pricey side. But you will have no regrets here for the quality and comfort. Everything is made in the US from the most comfy blends & its all ethical fashion – check out our previous blog.
You pay for a product that will become a staple in your wardrobe faster than you’d ever believe.
Something you’ll want to LIVE in as soon as you put it on.
To sum it all up – Wildfox is more than a brand, it’s a lifestyle.
The slogans, words, and dreams that are us.
That is why we heart Wildfox.
You can wear wildfox clothing and make whatever statement you want!
Do you own any wildfox? if so we want to hear about it below xxxx
The Laundry Room has arrived at Spoiled Brat
The Laundry Room : Another brand from the USA is at Spoiled Brat!
Just in, a brand new brand from the USA! The Laundry Room is a brand which caught our eye for their quirky slogans and designs and the extremely high quality of their product.
So who is The Laundry Room? Well the brand is the brainchild of two brothers, Jonah and Joey Pauline . From an early age, their creativity flowed on collaborative projects. Their mother was a true artistic talent who left behind journals of their West Coast adventures, full of illustrated sequences of their days at the beach, where they collected sand dollars littered on the shore during early morning low tides—loosely metaphorical for their future endeavors. Their life includes evenings of their father strumming his acoustic guitar, playing songs by ‘70s folk legends, rather than traditional bedtime stories. Their summers consisted of creating anything that caught their attention, from building hidden crawling paths disguised as stacked boxes in their laundry room to digging bunkers underneath their backyard deck, not to mention crafting zip lines into their pool.
This childhood theme of creating together continued to their teens and on. “Scrappy’” and “nostalgic” have always been appropriate descriptives of the brothers. They would occupy themselves by experimenting with unconventional business ideas, such as removing mistletoe from neighbors’ trees then packaging and selling that mistletoe to other neighbors as Christmas decorations. In their early 20s, they achieved their long-time goal of opening a premium clothing boutique. Seven years of retail would set the foundation for their ultimate goal of creating something to share with the world.
Some twists and turns in their assumed life path led them to see their creation come to life. They had been preparing for this from early childhood. It would become a balancing act between both idea and execution. Their very first collection felt an immediate embrace by retailers and influencers they had respected and followed for years. As equally gratifying was the response by the family of boutiques worldwide. It was then that The Laundry Room was born.
Today, The Laundry Room is the evolving expression of never ending soul searching. It is the findings of existential research coupled with childhood nostalgia. Always aspiring to bring a fresh perspective to those around them. Never giving up on skepticism. Always trusting in the good. The Laundry Room will always reflect these beliefs. They challenge all to find their private road of wander and to have an ever-evolving world.

The Ragged Priest ; One of our fav’ British labels of all time, make the most awesome clothes for us girls! At Spoiled Brat we have been a Ragged Clothing stockist for years, however we didnt stock any for the past 12 months (although we do have some bargains in our Ragged Priest sale & now we are BACK! And we have been completely bowled over with the new SS16 collection of the Ragged Priest Clothing.
So who is The Ragged Priest we hear you ask !?
Would you believe that The Ragged Priest began as an eBay store, way back in 2007, which was set up by James Cutmore to sell vintage clothing! Today Ragged Priest has established itself as one of the world’s coolest streetwear brands, which is all manufactured here in the UK! An early adopter of the 90’s grunge trend, Cutmore soon discovered people were vibing on vintage clothes, which had a reworked modern twist and the brand as we know it developed, helped by Rihanna wearing the studded denim shorts at Coachella 2012 (Rihanna in the Ragged Priest) and Jessie J wearing the famous Ragged clothes!
Ragged Priest has carved out a name for itself, as one of the most innovative street fashion labels around. Recognised for their distinctive brand voice and social media presence, The Ragged Priest tap into youth culture attitudes and as such have gained a strong cult status.
By taking inspiration from British street culture and adding a sprinkle of 90s grunge and sea punk futurism; Ragged Priest design collections for the trend-conscious customer whilst maintaining a considerable grunge twist.
Today their celebrity fans have evolved to include Cara Delevingne, Beyonce and Little Mix – the brand has gone global!
Today we have has the pleasure of speaking with one of the top Ragged Priest bloggers, The Young Eccentric to ask for some style tips on the label:
Sabrina from The Young Eccentric says “Ragged Priest is not for girls who dress the norm, they are for badass girls who aren’t afraid to embrace their individual style and look awesome, Ragged Priest is the ultimate brand for girls who embrace their own individual style… and also have a soft spot for unicorns! Forget about wanting to be a ‘Cool Girl’ its all about being a ‘Ragged Priest Girl’‘
Fun fact: “Back in the day I used to make my mum drive me all the way to Topshop Oxford Circus so i could spend my Topshop vouchers on Ragged Priest.”
Sabrina’s favourite look from the new collection is the Good Girl outfit “because it has a hella lots of rainbows” & her Fave piece is the Baddie top “because it just looks so badass, Although i do also like the ‘goodie’ jeans, but mainly because it reminds me of Ciara’s hit ‘Goodie’s’ and i want to dance around my room in them to that song”
Styling Tips? “Pair it with whatever the hell you want. Thats the great thing about Ragged Priest it goes with anything! Tomorrow I’m wearing my RP Good Girl jeans with flashing trainers and its gunna look RAD”
And we have spoken to top fashion blogger Sophie Hannah Richardson about the brand & she has given her top tips for styling :
“Ragged Priest is a brand that works so well with my 90s style. I absolutely love their current range, especially their embroidered jeans and Cutie Pie jumper. Their range always looks fab paired with coloured hair and bold lips“
And finally we have spoken with the most awesome badass bloggers from sunny Australia, Jess & Stef aka How To Live (you need to check their blog out, so bright and happy)
The girls rocking some RP
They have said of Ragged Priest
“We’re totally obsessed with all the RP denim. Every season we get excited to see what awesome things they’re going to pull out and our all time favourites would have to be the Ragged x Lazy Oaf kitty jeans – we know we’ll be rocking those for years to come!”
Finally we spoke with JoJo Pearson and asked her for her opinion & some quirky style tips on what is one of her fav brands
“When I think of The Ragged Priest I imagine candy, clouds and everything pastel with a hint of a dark side. It always seems cosy and fluffy to me, something that looks great to wear out but also perfect for snuggling in. My favourite pieces from the new collection have got to be the Heavenly Biker jacket and the Angelica Skirt. I’d put these with the Halo Crop and some white knee high boots for a simple but sweet look. But if you’re looking for something a little bit darker then I think the Black Blood Jean and the Apocalypse Crop are perfect, especially with some chunky black shoes. It really depends what mood you’re in and thankfully The Ragged Priest cater for everyone!”
And here are some of our new arrivals from the “A Road To Nowhere” SS16 Collection of this uber cool British label………. Enjoy xxxxx

90s Grunge Fashion, the Spoiled Brat Way!
Grunge Fashion : Are you a 90s chick? The 90s was a real grunge era, 90s grunge and its back for 2016
If you were just a youngster back then, or maybe not even born, then we will explain to you now what this decade was all about. We were in high school during this era, an era defined for us, by teenage angst, take that & east 17 boy band rivals and lots of underage drinking (nudge nudge , wink wink)
The 90s is however the decade which can be defined by the explosion of youth culture, in a defiant hypercolour of punk grunge fashion, which we are now seeing as a prominent fixture of the fashion in 2016! The 90s and their grunge clothes are well and truly back, and wont be fading away any time soon.
At the end of the 80s, this explosion of youth culture was influences by the acid house music explosion, which swept across the whole of the UK, wiping out everything in its road. Almost immediately the old club get up of Levi’s 501s & Dr Martens, were replaced by badass punk techno neon bright clothes & garage style baggy pants !
The banner of “one nation under a groove” became a prominent fixture, seeing all the old barriers being broken down and bringing people together. Huge crowds gathered, for illegal raves and anyone who could afford the price of a ticket, was welcome! Margaret Thatcher had declared there was “no such thing as society”, but in this period, it felt as if there had been forged , a hedonistic new society of our own.
It’s easy to forget now just how dire things were back in the 90s, but Eastern Europe was rising up, the Berlin wall had fallen and Nelson Mandela finally walked out of prison in South Africa. Although the winds of change had blown out into a gentle breeze by this had reached the UK, it still had an influence. Thatcher was finally moved out as PM, after the poll tax riots, only to be replaced by Mr grey man, John Major who simply continued with Thatchers’ more of the same austerity and blame policy.
It therefore felt like complete fate, that youth culture had burst into a defiant, rebellious, glorious technicolour.
This period could had so many defining and exciting events, like the famous cover of Face Magazine (pictured above), which was published, to celebrate the World Cup in Italy. On the cover, they featured a new, young model from Croydon (none other than Kate Moss), dressed in an Italia 90 scarf and clutching a football. Three months after, they published her again, this time however they put her in a feathered headdress and a goofy smile, in an issue to celebrate the Stone Roses’ gig on Spike Island and the wave of new bands that were hitting the scene.
That cover has since come to represent this new mood and become a symbol for the 90s!
The stylists of this famous shoot say that “Because we were all new, it was hard for us to get designer clothes [to photograph], so we’d go to markets and we’d make up fashion that we liked, We made this kind of grungy style, which made second-hand clothes really fashionable. And it was great, because people didn’t have much money anyway.”
The American youth culture took a little longer to scream its defiance, but when it did come, it came in massive towards the end of ’91 with the oppressive fury of Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit. Generation X had found its voice in Kurt Cobain and the Seattle grunge scene, and their brand of charity-store chic quickly became the new style for US teens, this being checkered vintage looking shirts, oversized soft grunge cardis and Converse trainers. Meanwhile, the girls had a new role model in Courtney Love, Cobain’s wife and proponent of babydoll nighties worn with tough boots. It all fitted beautifully with the grunge fashion from the UK.
Even the cool A-listers like Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix were dabbling into this new trend of grunge fashion!
And now the 90s are now back & in a big way and grunge, the decade’s landmark trend, is now cool again. Isnt it time you embraced this too? It really is an easy, fun trend to wear.
When embracing this trend, we recommend to do so with the attitude of Kurt Cobain & Courtney Love, and opt for pieces that have an aged aesthetic, be it through fabric finish or colour palette.
Although the staple items remain the same; checked shirts and ripped stone wash denim, grunge has been given a new twist for right now. T-shirts are given mesh cut-outs to make them feel fresh, punky cropped tops feature on trend quirky slogans and prints, checked shirts have evolved into dresses, and this season’s grunge ankle boot gets a makeover by stud details or vintage finishes. Badass Maxi-skirts should be worn scraping the floor, billowing and with boots, while jewellery should be stacked, all the better to make a statement. Vintage looking playsuits and jumpsuits feature 90s badass prints, with easy to wear cuts. Grunge is defined by a messy, I dont care look – a rebellious look, with an edge to it, topped off with the uniform Dr Martens of course, We love it.
Even now a days the celebs are setting the way for this come-back trend, with the likes of Cara Delevingne, Vanessa Hudgens & Miley Cyrus all indulging themselves in this trend. Festival go-ers, casual every day wear and even going out looks can all encompass this trend. Brands like UNIF, Heart by Nana Judy, Wildfox, The Ragged Priest, Lauren Moshi, MINKPINK , Valfre, One Teaspoon, and even Zoe Karssen dip their toes into the Anarchy of the 90s era. Lucky for you, we have our very own dedicated sections on our website for grunge clothing online.
We have compiled a load of styles below for you to pick from, which you can mix and match with other trends. Have fun with your fashion, this 90s trend is one that is here to stay for some time.
This week Charlotte from Lurch Hound Loves, featured Spoiled Brat in her latest fashion posts. She picked out out Valfre fries before guys embroidered t-shirts and our UNIF army style jacket.
We always love seeing how you guys style up our stuff, and love how Charlotte has styled up this look. Its totally glam, with an edge. She teams it with a black mini skirt and totally sexy black suede over the knee boots. She finishes off the look with some red lippy which makes the red trim of the valfre tee pop.
Charlotte has shown us how to mix and match looks, and how to make a grunge 90s style army jacket turn into a totally bad ass sexy jacket for a night out.
Like the look? Then shop them both below.
Chloe Sims films TOWIE in Lauren Moshi
TOWIE’s Chloe Sims was pictured today filming an Easter inspired theme for the show. Instead of going for the cute and girly, Easter theme – Chloe opted for a real rock chick look, teaming our Lauren Moshi “Pump up the Jam” graffiti style top with some skinny jeans, a biker jacket and some fun bunny ears.
Chloe’s style has evolved since she has been on the show, and she is now a style icon in her own right. She loves to experiment with her look and she is a real champion of the grunge 90s look and also the rock chick look. We think she is absolutely killing it in the style stakes and is for us, the top fashionista on the show! Always getting it right and on trend with her looks – Chloe is the girl to watch!
Like her look? This Lauren Moshi tank is super shredead with rips and tears for that real rock edge, and it features embroidered graffiti style slogan straight out of the 90s “Pump Up the Jam”
