Our UNIF “BOB” Tee featured by Kayla Hadlington
Our UNIF Bob Tee is featured on pink haired fashion blogger, Kayla Hadlington’s latest fashion post #ootd
We are loving our UNIF tee styled up in blogger Kayla’s latest blog post. In her own words she says of this quirky top :
“Bob is such a great name, as is Fred, and Dave. Don’t you just love names like that, the sort that you give to a pet and think its funny because they’re such normal human names, I’m sure you know what I’m on about. Everyone, especially my boyfriend, has been calling me Bob since I’ve acquired this tshirt which is quite amusing. Also how cute is this two tone skirt? I loveee it, I’ve been wanting a new denim skirt for ages and this one is perfect, the fact one half is shorter than the other makes it the perfect length for me- normally I find skirts too long and make me look like a thumb, unless I buy petite, which I’ve noticed theres been a rather large influx of expanding petite ranges recently, isn’t that fab????!“
We love it and we love how she has styled this cute retro style unif tee with a cute denim mini skirt, pop socks and some white trainers. This U N I F t-shirt comes in thick fabric and had a blue collar trim and slogan “Bob” embroidered on the front. Its very cute and girly and so versatile – you can dress it up or dress it down as you chose. UNIFClothing is great that way, all their pieces are easy to dress up or down.
UNIF is a great exciting brand, and its a brand to have fun and experiment with. Be fearless when you wear it. You style it and everyone who wears this brand, makes it their own.
The good news for you is that this quirky Tee is on SALE right now in our legendary online UNIF Sale – so grab it QUICK

They’re seriously one of my fave brands so I couldn’t resist – I reckon if I had to pick one brand to wear for the rest of my life, it would 100% be UNIF! Let Festival Season & Festival Fashion Commence…..
We love this time of year, the sun is starting to make an appearance and we have seen (and drooled) over all the pics from Coachella & all the celebs festival looks! That means one thing, we will soon be in the midst off full blown festival season, when every weekend is filled with some sort of outdoor music event, so there is one thing for sure – your wardrobe will need sorting out.
Now in all seriousness, how to get the festival look? Well when we think of festival fashion, we look to our celebs for some inspiration. Celebs who have stylists, who pick the best trends and styles! So look to our festival style idols Kate Bosworth, Kate Moss, Alessandra Ambrosio, Vanessa Hudgens and Alexa Chung, who look stylish, comfortable and also as if they’re prepared for what is essentially a big wet stag do with lots of music in the background (Ok, fine maybe not Bosworth, Alessandra & Vanessa, who tend to opt for the warmer festival options, ie non British!).
These girls however have shown us that you don’t have to wear hotpants, nor do you have to wear a floral headband!
What you will need is a warm jacket (unless you’re lucky enough to attend a festival outwith the UK, in which case just a good pair of sunglasses will do); a slouchy jumper and a nifty pair of shorts. You need to be able to dance as energetically as Jagger and be fit enough to walk for miles without getting wet feet or being in pain!
Going to a festival is a test of endurance, literally! I remember my 1st festival, T In The Park and having a blast during the day in the rain only to go back to the campsite for the evening and discover a rain flooded tent. You need to have patience and expect all seasons! Your festival ‘wardrobe’ , should therefore be a survival kit, packing light however is the key; ensuring all essentials to make the experience easier. If you think about what you’re wearing once you’re there, then its FACT that you’re not having enough fun. If your shoes or dress cross your mind once when you’re inside those dance tents, then walk to the nearest bar or fun fair immediately – on our command!
So we have taken the heat for you & scoured our online store (we have a fancy online festival fashion shop set up too just for you) to help you find shopping ideas to help you cater to every kind of festival, to make sure that fun is your priority, not what you look like! The perfect denim-cut offs; the suede jacket that will keep you warm when day turns to night; durable, but stylish footwear ideal for dancing; and the dress that will make you feel as carefree as boho 70s chic! Brands like unif, minkpink and the ragged priest are quite simply made for festivals!
Chloe Sims wears Wildfox on TOWIE
Chloe looks amazing, choosing to team our swing style Wildfox tee with a red biker jacket, which highlights the red feathers on the tee and some black skinny jeans. Chloe is one stylish lady , we always love seeing the outfits she pulls together! She has become a style icon in her own right, and her style has really evolved since joining TOWIE. Even her daughter Madison has become a mini-fashionista after taking to the catwalk on Sunday nights’ episode, modelling for co-star Billie Faiers new childrenswear collection.
Tonight is the series finale of TOWIE – boo hoo! And its set to be an explosive episode with 4 relationships going through turmoil!

Brands we would recommend looking at, which ooze edge, uniqueness and quirky style are UNIF, Valfre, Wildfox and Ragged Priest. Also look to the grunge trend, 90s trend and rock chick fashion for ideas too!
90s Grunge Fashion, the Spoiled Brat Way!
Grunge Fashion : Are you a 90s chick? The 90s was a real grunge era, 90s grunge and its back for 2016
If you were just a youngster back then, or maybe not even born, then we will explain to you now what this decade was all about. We were in high school during this era, an era defined for us, by teenage angst, take that & east 17 boy band rivals and lots of underage drinking (nudge nudge , wink wink)
The 90s is however the decade which can be defined by the explosion of youth culture, in a defiant hypercolour of punk grunge fashion, which we are now seeing as a prominent fixture of the fashion in 2016! The 90s and their grunge clothes are well and truly back, and wont be fading away any time soon.
At the end of the 80s, this explosion of youth culture was influences by the acid house music explosion, which swept across the whole of the UK, wiping out everything in its road. Almost immediately the old club get up of Levi’s 501s & Dr Martens, were replaced by badass punk techno neon bright clothes & garage style baggy pants !
The banner of “one nation under a groove” became a prominent fixture, seeing all the old barriers being broken down and bringing people together. Huge crowds gathered, for illegal raves and anyone who could afford the price of a ticket, was welcome! Margaret Thatcher had declared there was “no such thing as society”, but in this period, it felt as if there had been forged , a hedonistic new society of our own.
It’s easy to forget now just how dire things were back in the 90s, but Eastern Europe was rising up, the Berlin wall had fallen and Nelson Mandela finally walked out of prison in South Africa. Although the winds of change had blown out into a gentle breeze by this had reached the UK, it still had an influence. Thatcher was finally moved out as PM, after the poll tax riots, only to be replaced by Mr grey man, John Major who simply continued with Thatchers’ more of the same austerity and blame policy.
It therefore felt like complete fate, that youth culture had burst into a defiant, rebellious, glorious technicolour.
This period could had so many defining and exciting events, like the famous cover of Face Magazine (pictured above), which was published, to celebrate the World Cup in Italy. On the cover, they featured a new, young model from Croydon (none other than Kate Moss), dressed in an Italia 90 scarf and clutching a football. Three months after, they published her again, this time however they put her in a feathered headdress and a goofy smile, in an issue to celebrate the Stone Roses’ gig on Spike Island and the wave of new bands that were hitting the scene.
That cover has since come to represent this new mood and become a symbol for the 90s!
The stylists of this famous shoot say that “Because we were all new, it was hard for us to get designer clothes [to photograph], so we’d go to markets and we’d make up fashion that we liked, We made this kind of grungy style, which made second-hand clothes really fashionable. And it was great, because people didn’t have much money anyway.”
The American youth culture took a little longer to scream its defiance, but when it did come, it came in massive towards the end of ’91 with the oppressive fury of Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit. Generation X had found its voice in Kurt Cobain and the Seattle grunge scene, and their brand of charity-store chic quickly became the new style for US teens, this being checkered vintage looking shirts, oversized soft grunge cardis and Converse trainers. Meanwhile, the girls had a new role model in Courtney Love, Cobain’s wife and proponent of babydoll nighties worn with tough boots. It all fitted beautifully with the grunge fashion from the UK.
Even the cool A-listers like Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix were dabbling into this new trend of grunge fashion!
And now the 90s are now back & in a big way and grunge, the decade’s landmark trend, is now cool again. Isnt it time you embraced this too? It really is an easy, fun trend to wear.
When embracing this trend, we recommend to do so with the attitude of Kurt Cobain & Courtney Love, and opt for pieces that have an aged aesthetic, be it through fabric finish or colour palette.
Although the staple items remain the same; checked shirts and ripped stone wash denim, grunge has been given a new twist for right now. T-shirts are given mesh cut-outs to make them feel fresh, punky cropped tops feature on trend quirky slogans and prints, checked shirts have evolved into dresses, and this season’s grunge ankle boot gets a makeover by stud details or vintage finishes. Badass Maxi-skirts should be worn scraping the floor, billowing and with boots, while jewellery should be stacked, all the better to make a statement. Vintage looking playsuits and jumpsuits feature 90s badass prints, with easy to wear cuts. Grunge is defined by a messy, I dont care look – a rebellious look, with an edge to it, topped off with the uniform Dr Martens of course, We love it.
Even now a days the celebs are setting the way for this come-back trend, with the likes of Cara Delevingne, Vanessa Hudgens & Miley Cyrus all indulging themselves in this trend. Festival go-ers, casual every day wear and even going out looks can all encompass this trend. Brands like UNIF, Heart by Nana Judy, Wildfox, The Ragged Priest, Lauren Moshi, MINKPINK , Valfre, One Teaspoon, and even Zoe Karssen dip their toes into the Anarchy of the 90s era. Lucky for you, we have our very own dedicated sections on our website for grunge clothing online.
We have compiled a load of styles below for you to pick from, which you can mix and match with other trends. Have fun with your fashion, this 90s trend is one that is here to stay for some time.
UNIF is a brand that is going places!
Unif Clothing creates a totally badass lifestyle brand from La La Land, which has well and truly shaken up the fashion community, with their grunge esthetics and underground techno influences; this brand is seriously kicking some of the mainstream fashion butt.
UNIF was brought to the UK by us at Spoiled Brat; as with Wildfox we were the first UK stockist of the UNIF Brand– we have stocked the brand since 2009 would you believe? The brand immediately caught our attention for its badass attitude, grunge 90s styles all which it mixes perfectly with quirky girly styles too! Unif has since hit the UK big time, last year (2015) with several big retailers getting in on the action too, and the blogging world is going crazy for this fun brand – with a huge posse of fashion bloggers featuring UNIF Fashion in their posts, this brand is one to watch!
Fashion blogger Kayla Hadlington has been working with us on quite a few UNIF style posts – she is a massive fan of this out there brand & her latest looks are awesome featuring our tie-dye crochet UNIF dress. She has thrown together 2 looks which on paper shouldnt work – but in reality they have totally bowled us away – grunge rock chick mashed in with girly princess!
UNIF’s founder Eric Espinoza started his career as a Hollywood DJ , but he was quickly drawn towards fashion. It wasnt long before he was exchanging his decks , for backyard hand dying and sewing. His aim for the brand was and still is not to be “mainstream or the next Dior” and is founded on his backyard style and grunge ethics.
One of the most alluring things about UNIF clothing is their darker approach to fashion. Their tops and tees are perfectly shredded, to create that “worn to death” vintage look and feel and feature their famous buttery soft wash which feels amazing to wear. Another thing we love about UNIF fashion is their mixing up for styles and trends – they pull a streetwear style, mixed in with some 90s grunge, a dash of rock chick & some underground aesthetic, but they also arent afraid to add some girly pinks and cutsey prints. There is literally something for everyone in the unique UNIF collections.
Our stylists say “Girls who want to stand out, not fit in! Rebels without a cause – then UNIF clothes are for you!”
Shop UNIF now at Spoiled Brat in our online UNIF Store – we even have some really cool UNIF SALE items which are not to be missed 🙂
